CHILTON--SPL--Among the first physicians in this section was Dr. C. C. Hawkins, who came to Falls County in 1878 and settled first at Landrum, southeast of Chilton. Later, in 1882, he moved to Mooreville. He was a native of Fayette County, Georgia. He began to study medicine at the age of 16. At the age of 19 he entered the University of Louisiana (now Tulane) and graduated in 1876. He married Miss Dora Thomas in 1879. They had two sons.
